Staff Software Engineer | India

What's it like to be an engineer at Rippling? Sarthak Dalabehera, Staff Software Engineer on our team in India, builds systems that work across live company data, permissions, integrations, and automation. From shipping features at breakneck speed to solving engineering problems that span the entire unified graph, Sarthak shares what makes Rippling a uniquely challenging and rewarding place to build your engineering career.

What should engineering candidates know about working at Rippling?

I didn't expect how fast Rippling moves, and how much it rewards people who can take a problem and run with it. There isn't a lot of hand-holding, but if you can build context quickly, make good calls, and execute, you get real ownership much earlier than you would at most places.

How did you know Rippling was the right move?

It clicked for me when I saw how quickly a real customer problem could go from a Slack thread to something shipped. There is a strong "just do it" attitude here, and being around that kind of urgency and ownership made me feel like I had made the right call.

What does engineering ownership look like at Rippling?

At Rippling, you can see a customer problem and just go solve it. You are trusted to build the context, make the right design and architecture calls, ship it, and stay close enough to know whether it actually worked.

How does Rippling's unified graph change the scale of engineering problems you solve?

The scale changes because the engineering problems are not isolated to one feature or one workflow. With Rippling's unified graph and native AI, you are working across live company data, permissions, integrations, and automation, then turning all of that into systems that can safely take action for customers.

What are you most excited about for your engineering career at Rippling?

I'm excited about how much room there still is to grow here. Rippling is investing heavily in AI, and because it is built on top of our platform and employee graph, the work is not abstract, it is about solving real problems inside workflows that companies already depend on every day.

How do you protect your time in a fast-moving engineering org?

The hardest part of Rippling's pace is that if you are not organized, it can get incredibly distracting. A lot happens through Slack, priorities move quickly, and I've learned to curate my channels and notifications so I can protect focus time and ship the things customers actually need.
