How to Get Started with Rippling Payroll

Rippling Payroll can be set up entirely online. The process covers registration, account configuration, bank verification, and employee setup in three stages.

Stage 1: Complete the registration form: Head to and enter your full name, company name, estimated headcount, headquarters country, and phone number. Agree to Rippling's Terms of Service and Privacy Notice to proceed.

Stage 2: Complete the setup assistant Rippling's setup assistant collects 7 data points: company name, your name, email, phone number, number of employees, HQ country, and whether you have run payroll before. Complete all 7 to receive your account activation link.

Stage 3: Complete the account setup checklist Once inside your account, complete the following 15 steps in order. Each step unlocks after the previous one is finished. Company details are auto-populated from your registration.

  • Company registration info: EIN and state registration details

  • Set bank account: add the account Rippling will use to fund payroll

  • Upload bank documents: voided check or official bank letter

  • Verify bank account: Rippling confirms details before processing begins

  • Add employees: name, role, compensation, pay type, and start date

  • Add contractors: 1099 contractors paid separately from employees

  • Finish admin profiles: complete profiles for any additional administrators

  • Choose a bank account to run payroll: select which account is debited each pay run

  • Review or add pay schedules: weekly, biweekly, or monthly

  • Fill out tax forms: federal and state withholding and registration forms

  • Assign a signatory: authorized person who approves payroll before processing

  • Send email invites: invite employees to activate their accounts
